Extracted by steam distillation from the leaves and from the flowers of Mentha spicata L. (spearmint, mint Roman, spearmint), perennial herbaceous plant of the Lamiaceae native of the Southern Europe and of the Middle East, now naturalizzata and cultivated throughout the world — main fonte of the mint from dentifric, gomme from masticare and products for the igiene oral of the commercio. The phytochemical profile is dominated by R-(−)-carvone (50-80%) — the enantiomero sinistrogiro of the carvone which dà the characteristic aroma sweet-mentolato of the spearmint — seguito from limonene and diidrocarvone. The carvone of the spearmint is the 57% less powerful on the cold receptor TRPM8 compared to the menthol of the peppermint, the which makes the spearmint more gentle and less 'fredda': suitable for children (over the 6 years) and for people intollerant to the menthol. In aromatherapy it is used as carminative and digestive sweet, deodorant and cooling oral, tonic of the nervous system and as component of blend energizzant. Top note fresh, sweet-mentolata and caratteristicaly arrotondata.

Steam distillation
3 drops of Mint green + 3 drops of Lemon + 2 drops of Eucalyptus in the diffuser. Freschezza more gentle compared to the peppermint, with less α-terpineol and more carvone. Suitable also for rooms with children above the 6 years.
2 drops of Mint green + 2 drops of Fennel + 2 drops of Coriander in 20 ml of carrier oil. Massage on the abdomen for promote the digestion and alleviare nausea, cramps intestinal and colite.
