Plant description

Extracted by cold pressing from the fruit peel of Citrus limon (L.) Osbeck (lemon), citrus fruit of the Rutaceae of origin probably ibrida (cedarwood × lime), cultivated in all the Mediterranean basin and in the areas subtropical of the pianeta. The lemon is the citrus fruit more cultivated in the world and the its essential oil is one of the ingredient most widely used in perfumery, alimentation and aromatherapy. The phytochemical profile is dominated by d-limonene (55-75%), β-pinene (8-15%) and γ-terpinene (6-12%), with citral (geranial + nerale: 2-5%), linalool and α-terpineol as components minor responsible of the note floral characteristic of the lemon of quality. The limonene is one of the monoterpenes most studied for the properties antiossidant, anti-inflammatory and potenzially chemiopreventive. In aromatherapy the lemon is used as toning of the nervous system, antiseptic environmental and food, carminative and digestive, depurative hepatic and as fragrance fresh universally piacevole. Photosensitizing if extracted for pressofrigido: avoid the esposition solare for 12 hours after the topical application. The distillate not is photosensitizing. Bright top note, fresh and citrusy.

Sicily and Campania (Italy), principal produttori mondial of essential oil; Spain, Turkey, Argentina. Native of the South Asia (India north-oriental).

Recipes & blends
Blend concentration and studio

4 drops of Lemon + 3 drops of Rosemary + 2 drops of Peppermint in the diffuser during the hours of studio or lavoro intense.

Scrub energizing body

10 drops of Lemon + 5 drops of Orange Sweet + 5 drops of Bergamot in 100 g of sea salt grosso mescolato with 3 cucchiai of coconut oil. Use under the doccia.

Spray purifying kitchen

15 drops of Lemon + 10 drops of Tea Tree + 5 drops of Thyme in 100 ml of water + 15 ml of alcohol. Spray for surfaces from kitchen and taglieri.

Contraindications
PHOTOSENSITIZING: do not apply to the skin exposed to the luce solare diretta or UV (risk of macchie and burns). Prefer the use evening or in aree coperte. Not take orally in large amounts. On skin very sensible can risultare irritating: dilute bene.
