Plant description

Extracted by steam distillation from the rhizomes dried of Turmeric zedoary (Christm.) Roscoe (turmeric zedoary, zedoary, ginger white), plant rizomatous perennial of the Zingiberacee native of the India north-oriental (Assam, Bengal) and of the Indonesia, cultivated in China, Java and Madagascar. The zedoary has a storia medicinal millenaria in Ayurveda (turmeric zedoary = kachura) and in the medicina traditional Chinese, where is classificata as remedy for the stagnation of the qi and of the blood. The phytochemical profile is dominated by curzerenone (25-45%), curzerene and furanodienoide — sesquiterpenes with funzione furanonic responsible of to anti-inflammatory action and gastroprotettive documented.
