Extracted by steam distillation from the flowering tops of Sage rosmarinus Spenn. (sin. Rosmarinus officinalis L.) chemotype cineole — the chemotype of the rosemary caratterizzato from to alta concentration of 1,8-cineole (eucalyptol), tipicaly superiore to the 40%, and from a proportion ridotta of camphor compared ad other chemotypes. This CT is prevalent in the popolations of the Nordafrica (Morocco, Tunisia) and of the Portugal southern, where the conditions of calore and umidity promote the biosintesi of the cineole compared to the camphor. The phytochemical profile is dominated by 1,8-cineole (40-55%), α-pinene (10-20%) and camphor (5-15%), with camfene and β-pinene. Compared to the CT camphor, is more sweet and less stimulating neurologicaly, with to excellent action expectorant and antinfettive of the respiratory tract. In aromatherapy is considered the chemotype of rosemary more safe and versatile: recommended for the infections respiratory acute (bronchitis, sinusitis), as stimulating cognitive light, as tonic circolatorio and as antiseptic environmental. Contraindicated in the first trimester of pregnancy. Top-to-heart note balsamic, fresh and slightly eucaliptoide.
