Plant description

Extracted by steam distillation from the wood of Ocotea cymosa (Nees) Mez (iary, ravensare odorant, havozo, ocotea), evergreen tree of the Lauracee endemic of the Madagascar oriental, where grows in the forests pluvial of low and media elevation of the regions coastal oriental. L'iary is talvolta commercializzato as 'ravensare odorant' for via of a confusione consolidata in the commercio internazional with the ravensara (Ravensara aromatic, Lauracee) — species botanicaly distinta with profile chemical radically different. The phytochemical profile of the iary is dominated from linalool (65-85%), with α-terpineol, geraniol and β-ocimene as components minor — a composition ad altissimo content of linalool analoga to the wood of rose (Aniba rosaeodora) and to the wood of ho (Cinnamomum camphora var. linaloolifera). The linalool with the sue sedative properties, antibacterial (active on MRSA), antifungal (Candida) and antiossidant provides to the iary a profile therapeutic of large interesse as alternative sustainable and economic to the wood of rose vulnerable. In aromatherapy it is used as anxiolytic sweet, antibacterial skin, antifungal and immune-stimulating. Top-to-heart note floral-woody and delicataly rosea.
