Extracted by steam distillation from the parts aeree flowering of Pelargonium × asperum Ehrh. ex Willd. (sin. P. graveolens L'Hér., geranium rosat, geranium borbon), hybrid aromatic of the Geraniacee derived from incroci among species sudafricane of the Capo of Buona Speranza, cultivated mainly to Réunion, Madagascar, Egypt, Morocco and China. The geranium of Réunion (detto 'Bourbon') is considered of quality superiore for the profile balanced and the finezza aromatic.
