Extracted by steam distillation from the leaves fresh of Coriandrum sativum L. (coriander, cilantro), plant annual of the Apiaceae native of the Middle East and of the Mediterranean oriental, cultivated universally as herb aromatic in kitchen. L'oil of leaves is chimicaly and aromaticly very different dto the oil of seeds: mentre the seeds are dominati from linalool floral (60-80%), the leaves contain mainly aldehydes alifatic as decanal, 2(AND)-decenal and dodecanal — responsible of the controverso aroma 'saponaceo-bugoso' which a part of the popolation percepisce as odor of cimice (dovuto to a polimorfismo genetic in the gene OR6TO2). The phytochemical profile of the leaves include also aldeide nonilic, terpineol and linalool in traces. In aromatherapy the oil of leaves is less used of quello of seeds but finds application as digestive and carminative, antibacterial food, antioxidant and as note aromatic polarizing in perfumery sperimental (or si ama or si odia). Top note green-herbaceous, aldeidic and polarizing.
