Extracted by cold pressing from the fruit peel of Citrus × clementina Hort. ex Tanaka (clementina), hybrid agrumario of the Rutaceae obtained dto the incrocio among the mandarin (Citrus reticulata) and the bitter orange (Citrus × aurantium), avvenuto presumibilly to the fine of the Ottocento in the giardini of the reverendo Clément Rodier ad Oran, in Algeria. The clementina is one of the citrus fruits more consumati in the Mediterranean in the months invernal, but the its essential oil is less widespread of the mandarin and of the orange sweet for ragioni of disponibility and costi of extraction. The phytochemical profile is dominated by d-limonene (85-95%), with γ-terpinene, β-miricene and α-pinene in traces — a composition very simile to the orange sweet but with a fragrance percettivaly more fruity and less floral. In aromatherapy it is used as anxiolytic sweet, mood tonic, carminative and as fragrance citrusy festive-winter. Particularly recommended for children and anziani for the its delicatezza. Photosensitizing (pressofrigido). Top note bright, fruity and sweet.
