Plant description

Extracted by steam distillation from the leaves fresh of Cinnamomum verum J.Presl (sin. C. zeylanicum Blume, cinnamon of Ceylon), evergreen tree of the Lauracee native of the Sri Lanka and of the Kerala, the which bark interna dried costituisce the cinnamon commercial more high-quality in the world. L'oil of leaves is chimicaly distinto dto the oil of bark: mentre the bark is dominated from trans-cinnamaldeide (60-80%), the leaves contain prevalentely eugenol (70-90%) with minor amount of eugenile-acetate and cinnamaldeide in traces. L'eugenol is the component active of the chiodi of clove, responsible of the effect anestetic local, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory ben documented in odontoiatria and farmacologia — is the molecule used in the otturation provvisoria of the denti. In aromatherapy the oil of leaves is considered more safe of the oil of bark for topical use poiché the eugenol cause less reazioni allergic compared to the cinnamaldeide; rimane tuttavia a dermocaustic which requires diluition accurata (max 0.5-1%). Used as antibacterial powerful, analgesic local, stimulating circolatorio and aphrodisiac warm. Contraindicated during pregnancy. Top-to-heart note warm, chiodous and intensaly spicy.

Recipes & blends
Difesa winter

2 drops of Cinnamon leaves + 3 drops of Arancia sweet + 2 drops of Ravintsara + 1 drop of Chiodi of clove in the diffuser for 30 minutes.

Massage warm

1 drop of Cinnamon leaves + 3 drops of Ginger + 2 drops of Pepper black in 30 ml of carrier oil. Massage on legs and feet to stimulate the circulation.

Contraindications
Dermocaustica: do not use mai undiluted on the skin, dilute massimo to the 1% for topical use. Avoid during pregnancy, breastfeeding and in children under the 6 years. Possible sensitizing skin; fare always the patch test. Do not use in case of allergy to the eugenol.
